Distance is just an amount of space; I knew, for a fact, that I could find her. And space stretched all of its black distance around me as I travelled at silent speed in ever widening circles, my tail long and flaming behind me. I passed galaxies and mysteries and clouds, searching for Cassiopeia on her throne of stars, combing her hair as she waited for me. I am still travelling.
It takes a long time for our path to cross, as the universe expands and the distance grows, but I am fated to brush past her constellation every time, and she looks up just like she always did, smiling in silver and promising me all of her time, so much more valuable than my distance. Her promises rang through the heavens as I sped by. My heart is icy cold under this fiery body.
She always looks the same, and she always entreats me to stay a while, admire her beauty, give myself over to all of her time. I wonder if I have changed, but I cant stop, and she cant follow. Still she smiles as though she does not care.
I will make my round once more, and maybe next time she will realise that she loves me.
